What are fees for service?

Fees are per 50 minute hour and payment is due at the end of each session.

What are the payment arrangements?

Payment for services is due at the end of each session. A written receipt is provided at the end of each session and a computerized statement mailed at the end of the month. If payment is an issue it can be discussed and a payment plan devised.

Will my insurance cover this?

Psychological services are not covered by OHIP, but many extended health care plans cover psychological services. It is important that each Client check with their insurance company with respect to their coverage.

What about confidentiality?

Confidentiality is an important part of the client-psychologist relationship. Information can only be released to other parties with the signed consent of the client. Exemptions include when a client is a danger to themselves or others, when there are concerns about risk to a child under 16 years of age, and when a therapist is subpoenaed to court in relation to their client.

What is a Psychological Associate?

Psychologists and Psychological Associates are members of the College  of Psychologists of Ontario. The profession of psychology in Ontario has a single scope of practice.  There is no distinction made in the legislation or in the regulations between Psychologists and Psychological Associates with respect to scope of practice or with respect to controlled/authorized acts.        

What is supervised practice?

All psychological services are under the supervision of a registered psychologist.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Therapy/Counselling is voluntary. You do not need a doctor’s referral, however your doctor may refer or recommend therapy or counselling.
